Our Food Preserving courses are offered via two methods: community courses and private tuition, with the goal of education and empowerment in the community. Our community courses are low-cost - often half the price (or less) than commercial courses - and we also offer personalised private tuition by arrangement. By attending one of our Food Preserving Courses, you are supporting this website, a FREE community resource (hundreds of recipes and articles available for EVERYONE to use at home, www.foodpreserving.org) and you are also supporting local families, venues (community centres are not-for-profit) and Australian small businesses. 
Education for all, in the comfort of your home!
A demonstration-based, educational and informative cooking course suitable for people of all skill levels who are interested in learning more about food preservation, expanding jam-making skills (and learning other preserving methods) and exploring unique flavour combinations. To keep our costing low (and education high) you will learn interactively by watching us demonstrate the course recipes step-by-step (hands-on if the venue is suited to do so, pending group size). You'll be provided with in-depth course notes to go home with, so you can practice the skills demonstrated and discussed. This way, you learn much more about the background of each dish, pick up tips and tricks, ask questions to gather confidence and knowledge to master home food preservation, and also receive follow-up advice via our Facebook page and Facebook private support groups if you have further questions when making the course recipes at home (for those without Facebook access, email and phone contacts are provided).  Bookings are essential, through the venue or organiser and part proceeds from each ticket also go to the venue (a local NFP).  For more information on a particular course, please see our course schedule. Each term we offer different community courses/methods, and many are only taught once a year due to seasonal availability/weather permitting and ensuring we can keep costs low. PRICE PER PERSON: $49 (approx) 

Hands-on cooking in your home is available by arrangement during the school term or during the holidays. Learn bottling, pressure canning, fermentation, cheese-making and more! Once your booking is confirmed, you will be sent the ingredient and equipment lists. Also includes customised course guides for all attendees and support group access for afterwards. This option is ideal for beginners to preserving, especially if your pressure canner has just arrived and you want to learn with one-on-one guidance (we've been preserving since 2002). PRICE PER PERSON: from $99 (preserving, fermenting and other cookery), from $149 (cheese-making), minimum fee $297 per booking (1-3 people).
